I visited the monastery & San Francisco's cathedral & got a private tour in Spanish by a local gal full of knowledge. She shared a lot of the city's history & led me through narrow passageways to the roof for superb views.
The following day I got some real exercise traversing the steep streets of the city. I walked about 20 blocks to catch a tour bus of the southern part of the city, which also took us to Moon Valley. It is an ever-changing expanse of rocky spires that will eventually be completely eroded as it is actually made of sand. I was glad to see that there are some nicer parts of the city & some wealthier residents in Southern La Paz.
